In most cases, Chirp will charge you for your purchased audiobooks once a day.* When you use the same payment method to make multiple purchases in a day, we’ll group those purchases together and charge you once in a single transaction. For example, if you buy one book for $5, and then buy another book later in the day for $3, then you will be billed one time for $8. You’ll still see the cost breakdown for the purchase in your order confirmation emails and on the order history page for your account.
After you make a purchase, you can begin listening to your new audiobooks immediately. However, if the payment method provided later fails to process, you will receive an alert via email that the payment method must be updated. In order to maintain access to your audiobook, the payment method must be updated within 24 hours of the failed transaction. If the payment method is not updated within 24 hours of receiving the email alert, then the order will be canceled and the audiobook will be removed from your library.
If the order is canceled but you still want those audiobooks, you will be able to order those titles again via a new purchase.
*The following types of transactions are charged immediately: audiobook gift purchases, gift card purchases, free book purchases, any purchase by a first-time customer, and any transaction using a gift card as a payment method. Chirp may change the criteria for how payments are processed at any time. Please reach out to our Support team with any questions!
