Books that you've downloaded for offline listening use storage space on your device. If you'd like to remove the downloaded audio files after finishing a book, Chirp can do that for you automatically via the remove downloads after finishing feature. Keep reading to learn what this feature does and how to enable it!
When you download a book for offline listening, Chirp saves the audio files for that book to your device, and the book continues to use storage space on your device until the download is removed. Unless you plan to listen to a book multiple times, it's best to delete the downloaded book after you finish listening.
If you do want to remove a book so that it's no longer visible in your library, you can archive it.
To automatically remove downloads for the books you've finished, follow the steps below:
- Open the Chirp app and tap the Settings icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.
- Find the second option in the menu, "Remove Downloads After Finishing" and tap the toggle so that it turns green.
- If you have any finished books that are currently downloaded, we'll automatically remove the downloads for these books. Going forward, every time you finish a book, we'll automatically delete the download with no further action needed from you.
